My trip to denver was a bit unexpected. Time was limited. I would only be there for one day and just for a few hours. I did not know if I would have time to enjoy everything this museum had to offer, and I'm glad I took the time to do it.

The Denver Art Museum was a unique experience. The museum sits on a relatively small amount of land. The area surrounding the museum contained a brick courtyard and sculpture garden which I thought fit very well with the surroundings.

During the time I was at the Musuem I was very lucky to have seen the "Winslow Homer: Facing Nature" exhibit which was travelling through the west. I had not seen much of Homer's work before except for a piece here and there and this show was a great showcase.

Not only was the work on display great but also the presentation was exceptional. Complementary sound recorders were available. Programs were directed at both a young and mature audience. I thought that this was not only thoughtful but the programs were skillfully done.

In the Homer exhibit as well as throughout the museum there were areas and items the public was invited to touch, hold or even sit in. The entire musuem was comfortable and inviting. One person I met mentioned that they would come down from Bolder and spend the day siting in the galleries and having coffee in the cafe. I can see spending the day at the museum as well.

Overall, I had a very good experience at the Denver Art Musuem. The staff was very friendly and the exhibits and the presentation of the musuem was comfortable and I recommend this museum highly.

You will probably notice that I am not presenting pieces from the DAM's permanant collection. Although I probably could find a way around it, the DAM website says plainly and at the entrance to the sight, all of the images are copyrighted and are not for representation anywhere else. So, Ok, I can take a hint.
