Years ago, when I had a bit more time and motivation, I collected pen pals from all over the world. As time passed I changed and spent less time
writing letters and more time doing the day to day chores that needed doing.
This was a mistake on my part. One of the great satisfactions in the day is getting personal mail. A personal letter can make going through
a pile of junk and bills worth the effort.
The fact that someone thought of you and took the time and effort to write, stamp and mail whatever thought they had in the moment is a much
greater addition to the day than the updated balance of a credit card.
As fine as a letter can be to get they can be a burden to write. As a compromise, a few years ago I took to carrying and writing postcards.
Easy, quick and can be much more memorable than a letter. E-Cards are less satisfying than a standard card but they are convient, and free.
